Overview
- Job descriptions, email templates, and other large text fields are created in an HTML editor within Recruiting.
- When you copy text from Microsoft Word or a similar program, the text may not paste cleanly.
- This happens because Word and similar programs include hidden formatting that the text editor does not support, which may cause your information to appear incorrectly once posted online.
Clean Up Already Pasted Text
When you paste content into a text editor, follow these steps to remove unwanted formatting.
- Paste the text into the field.
- Select Remove All Formatting.
- Add formatting back using the options on the HTML Toolbar, such as Bold, Bulleted List, or Paragraph Style.
Paste Content without Formatting
Depending on your browser settings, you may see paste options when you right-click inside the editor. These options help prevent formatting issues.
- Paste as plain text: Pastes text without any formatting.
- Paste and Match Style: Pastes text and matches the editor’s style.
Using either option can reduce cleanup time after pasting.
Tips
- Draft content in the text editor when possible to avoid formatting issues.
- If you must use Word, keep formatting simple before copying.
- Review spacing, bullets, and font size after pasting.
Troubleshooting
If the text still looks incorrect after removing formatting:
- Select Remove All Formatting again.
- Check for extra spaces or line breaks.
- Reapply formatting using only the text editor toolbar options.
