Why Are My Emails Going to the Promotions Tab in Gmail?

The Promotions tab in Gmail is a feature of Tabbed Inboxes, introduced by Google in 2013 to support Gmail users with a better inbox experience.

A tabbed inbox allows users to focus on their most important emails first, so they filter into the Primary tab.

How Are Emails Sent from Paycor Recruiting Impacted?

Your emails automatically appear in the Promotions tab when:

  • You send follow-ups to your applicants using Paycor Recruiting
  • You send follow-ups from your own email system.

Tips to Encourage Recipients to monitor their Promotions tab:

  • Consider enabling texting so you can send a text about your first email to the applicants. A reminder to check their SPAM or junk folder is a good addition to your first text to a new applicant.
  • Add a disclaimer to your emails (in Paycor Recruiting and outside of it) asking your recipients to add you to their contact list.
  • Make a phone call. Don’t risk losing a great candidate due to a missed email – give them a quick call to verify they received it.

Notes:

  • Emails filtered to other tabs in Gmail are not considered SPAM or junk, and the filtering is managed solely by Gmail and cannot be changed/updated in Paycor Recruiting.
  • Paycor Recruiting considers emails that appear in the Promotions tab as delivered, and Recruiting Support cannot troubleshoot any further on these.
