About the Promotions tab in Gmail

The Promotions tab in Gmail is part of Tabbed Inboxes, a feature Google introduced in 2013 to give Gmail users a better inbox experience. For more information, refer to How Gmail sorts your email based on your preferences.

A tabbed inbox helps users focus on their most important emails first. Those emails go to the Primary tab.

Understand how Recruiting emails are affected

Your emails go to the Promotions tab when you do either of these things:

  • You send follow-ups to applicants from Paycor Recruiting.
  • You send follow-ups from your own email system.

Encourage applicants to check their Promotions tab

Use these tips to help applicants find your emails:

  • Turn on texting so you can send a text about your first email to applicants. Remind them to check their SPAM or junk folder in your first text.
  • Add a note to your emails (in Paycor Recruiting and outside of it) that asks recipients to add you to their contact list.
  • Make a phone call. Do not risk losing a great candidate because of a missed email. Give them a quick call to verify they got it.

Notes

  • Emails that Gmail filters to other tabs are not considered SPAM or junk. Gmail manages this filtering, and you cannot change or update it in Paycor Recruiting.
  • Paycor Recruiting counts emails that appear in the Promotions tab as delivered. Recruiting Support cannot troubleshoot these emails further.
