Overview
This article provides instructions on how candidates can opt in or out of text messaging communications and how to send a text message to a candidate. Reports and additional resources are located at the bottom of this article.
How Do Candidates Opt In to Receive Text Messages?
- When you enable texting, applicants can opt in to receive text messages by selecting an option on the application. This must be enabled on a candidate’s record to receive a text message.
- If the candidate does not initially opt in on the application, you can manually opt in a candidate, assuming they have expressed consent to communicate via text.
- Some cell phone plans charge extra for text messaging, and some applicants might not have a texting plan.
- Administrators and Staffing Users can manually opt out candidates from text messaging. You can do this in Privacy Tools under the Info icon

How Do I Send a Text Message to a Candidate?
- In Recruiting, go to the candidate's record and access the Text Message section.
- Click the candidate’s name or the Send a Text button in the upper-right corner. This window has both an Email and Candidate Text Message tab.
- Type your message and click Send Text.
Text Message Reports
- Administrator users access reports on text message delivery and message counts in the Reports section and under Marketplace.
- Reporting data reflects the last two years.
