Understand the time between hiring steps
The Average Days to Pursue shows how long a candidate stays in each step before moving to the next step in the hiring process.
Paycor does not count the time it takes to reject candidates because that time does not make hiring faster.
Review the new candidate timing example

On average, it takes 2.3 days to move a new candidate forward. Less than a week is a good target.
- Review Requests: It takes 0.2 days for a hiring manager to approve a review request. Less than 2 to 3 days is a good target.
- Schedule a Phone Screen: It takes 13.3 days to schedule a phone screen with a candidate.
- Schedule an Interview: It takes 7.2 days to set up an interview with a candidate.
- Average to Hire: It takes 16.9 days for the full process, from when someone applies to when the candidate is hired. This number can change based on the job type. Jobs that pay more or need special skills might take longer.
