Indeed requires salary information on job postings.
When a job is sent from Paycor Recruiting to Indeed without salary details, Indeed may display an estimated salary range. Paycor does not control how Indeed calculates or displays these estimates.
To ensure Indeed receives the correct compensation information, enter pay details in the Pay Range in Job Listing fields on the job record. These fields are mapped directly to the Indeed feed.
For steps, refer to Add pay ranges to job postings in Recruiting.
As a best practice, also include salary information in the job description so it is visible to job seekers.
Why salary information matters
Salary details help job seekers determine whether a position aligns with their expectations.
Benefits of including salary information include:
- Increased transparency for job seekers
- Improved job posting performance and engagement
- Compliance with salary transparency requirements in applicable locations
- More accurate salary information is displayed on Indeed
What happens if you do not add a salary
If salary information is not provided:
- Indeed may not display your job at all.
- Indeed may estimate the pay range for the position.
- The estimated range may not reflect your intended compensation.
- You cannot prevent Indeed from displaying an estimate if compensation data is unavailable.
To improve accuracy, provide salary information through the mapped pay range fields on the job record.
Prevent Indeed salary estimates
To help ensure Indeed displays the correct salary information:
- Enter compensation details in the Pay Range in Job Listing fields on the job record.
- Refer to Add pay ranges to job postings in Recruiting for steps.
- Include the same salary information in the job description so job seekers can easily view it.
The Pay Range in Job Listing fields come straight from the Paycor-to-Indeed feed, so they are the most reliable source for pay information. If you only include salary details in the job description, Indeed must find and interpret that information on its own. This can make the pay data less accurate and consistent.
Fix an incorrect salary on Indeed
If Indeed displays an incorrect salary:
- Review the Pay Range in Job Listing fields on the job record and update them as needed.
- Confirm the salary information in the job description matches the configured pay range.
- Allow time for the updated job information to be sent to Indeed.
- If the incorrect salary remains, contact Indeed Support for assistance.
Paycor cannot control or modify salary information displayed on Indeed after the information is received by Indeed.
Best practices for adding salary information
Follow these recommendations to improve salary accuracy:
- Enter compensation details in the Pay Range in Job Listing fields.
- Include the same salary information in the job description.
- Specify a pay period, such as hourly, monthly, or annual.
- Use clear salary amounts or ranges.
- Include the appropriate currency symbol or abbreviation.
- Maintain consistency between the pay range fields and the job description.
- Avoid providing multiple conflicting compensation ranges.
Example salary formats
Use clear and simple formats like:
- $18 per hour
- $45,000 per year
- $50,000 to $60,000 per year
These formats help Indeed display your pay information accurately.
